Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and qualified long-term substitute teacher to join our English Department from March through the end of the school year. The successful candidate will teach American literature to high school students, guiding them in critical analysis, literary appreciation, and effective communication skills, while embracing the Catholic school’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons in American literature following the established curriculum.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking.
- Grade, and provide feedback on assignments, quizzes, and exams.
- Collaborate with department colleagues and school staff to ensure student success.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, as needed.
- Incorporate the Catholic mission and values into classroom instruction and interactions.
- Supervise students and maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching high school English, particularly American literature, is highly desirable.
- Commitment to upholding the Catholic school’s mission and values.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt to a temporary role and continue with existing curriculum plans.
