St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Independence, MO is seeking candidates for the position of Parish Business Manager. This position provides comprehensive leadership and day-to-day supervision of the financial and temporal affairs of the parish in such a way as to enable the pastor and ministry leaders to concentrate on the spiritual affairs of the parish. This position manages the parish administration functions, supervises activities and staff in the areas of: finance/accounting, human resources, facility management, stewardship, communications, and information systems. This position requires a hands-on management style. As a member of the leadership team, the Parish Business Manager participates in the development of the parish’s strategic plans and programs
Requirements
Essential Duties
Leadership & management
· Direct all Human Resource components of the parish. Including but limited to:
o Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding and offboarding employees.
o Directly supervise parish staff, both full-time and part-time.
o Maintain employee records.
Financial systems and processes
· Oversee payroll for parish staff.
· Oversee payment of all vendors in a timely manner.
· Oversee parish’s online giving platform.
· Communicate the parish’s financial status regularly and effectively to the pastor.
· Prepare for and facilitate quarterly finance council meetings.
· Develop annual budget in conjunction with the pastor.
· Ensuring compliance with all Diocesan operational policies and procedures.
Office management
· Work with the administrative assistant to ensure the accuracy and practical utility of the parish’s system of calendars.
· Draft and manage leasing contracts with outside entities in conjunction with Diocesan offices.
· Establish good rapport and communication with outside entities.
· Train and supervise staff responsible for these procedures.
· Maintain accurate parish data and train employees in the use of the parish data system.
Development
· Develop a system of “donor relations” such as “acknowledgments” and communication with those who support the parish.
· Assist the pastor in designing, implementing, and conducting a potential parish capital campaign.
· Develop marketing material to aid in development efforts.
Building & Grounds
· Work with the pastor to fill the roles for building maintenance, volunteer or part time employees.
· Supervise the volunteers and/or staff members in their work.
· Develop, implement and manage strategies/policies for campus security and safety.

Practicing Catholic is prefered but not required. Understanding of the Catholic beliefs required. Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, HR, or related field or equivalent exp. Have 5 years professional exp and at least 2 years exp leading an organization or large depart. Other required skills include effective communication skills both written and verbal; exceptional leadership, administrative and organizational skills; the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people and technological expertise. Must have accounting experience & knowledge of accounting principles and be proficient with Office365 and (other financial accounting applications), and be able to learn specialized software quickly.
