Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Art teacher to join St. Michael High School. This position inspires and educates students in the visual arts, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression. This role involves teaching art principles, techniques, and history while encouraging students to explore and develop their artistic talents.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Development
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
- Teach various art disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and art history.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
- Integrate technology and contemporary art practices into the classroom.
Student Development
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
- Guide students in developing their artistic skills and portfolios for exhibitions or college applications.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on student artwork, ensuring consistent evaluation of progress.
Classroom and Resource Management
- Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment, including the proper care and storage of art supplies.
- Manage the art department budget and inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
- Organize and supervise student art displays, exhibitions, and participation in competitions.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art into cross-curricular activities.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about student progress and achievements.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on art education trends and techniques.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
- State teaching certification or licensure in Art Education.
Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge of art techniques, materials, and history.
- Proficiency in traditional and digital art tools and software.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students with a passion for the arts.
- Prior teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
