Director of Advancement
Holy Family High School is seeking a Director of Advancement to lead and manage school advancement efforts, cultivate relationships with key constituent groups, and solicit gifts that support the school’s mission of Catholic education. The Director of Advancement at Holy Family High School is responsible for the vision and direction of the Advancement Department.
The Director of Advancement collaborates with the Administration, Athletic Department, Performing Arts, and other school clubs/organizations to support the strategic visioning of the school, implementation of programs and projects that support the financial needs of the school, engage donors to strengthen capital additions and support programs that provide tangible benefits for current/future students, alumni, parents, and community members.
The Director of Advancement reports directly to the President and is the Supervisor of the members of the Advancement Department working to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward past, current and future donors.
- Works closely with the President, the Leadership Team, and with all key members of the school community including staff and volunteers, faculty, students, and members of the Board of Advisors
- Develop an overarching strategy that includes appropriate donor cultivation, personal contact, effective solicitation, and ongoing relationship
- Collaborate with the President and Advancement department to direct the major fundraising initiatives of the school
- Conduct independent research, to identify prospective donors from a variety of constituencies
- Meets established fundraising goals, understanding the critical role that donor participation plays in ensuring the success of the school's mission
- Works closely with the Development Manager and the Event and Alumni Outreach Specialist to manage or assist with annual school events that occur throughout the calendar year
- Work with the school Leadership Team to
- plan and implement capital campaigns and special projects
- support marketing and publication efforts
- develop and oversee department budget
- Establish, build, and maintain meaningful relationships to develop and maximize philanthropic support
- Cultivate and steward donor relationships
- Attend on campus and off campus events promote school advancement efforts
- Oversee accuracy of donor database in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Denver Mission Advancement office
- Communicate mission, vision, and strategy
- Maintains standards of professional competence in handling confidential information
- Adheres to a professional code of ethical conduct stated by Holy Family High School
- Administers regular department meetings with the Advancement staff to plan Advancement goals and strategies
Qualifications
- An authentic desire to elevate Holy Family High School and to embrace/advance its mission
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or other applicable field; master’s degree preferred
- Experience in advancement, marketing, or related field, preferably three to five years philanthropic fundraising experience
- Demonstrated accomplishments in growing revenue, specifically relating to philanthropic fundraising
- Fluency with donor tracking software and social media platforms; proficiency using Raiser’s Edge preferred
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, and superior interpersonal skills, with a natural way of connecting with various constituents and audiences
- Experience in donor prospecting, in cultivating and developing relationships with key donors, and in achieving success with major gifts
- Understanding of how to build and expand the donor base through a variety of appropriate and effective strategies that are carefully shaped and uniquely targeted to various constituencies
- Ability to manage/oversee special events with an eye towards helping donors to connect at a deeper level with the school and especially the students.
- Ability to provide meaningful, productive engagement opportunities for volunteers assisting with the advancement initiatives
- Skilled problem-solver and critical, strategic thinker who will meet challenges with creative and effective solution
- Talented team leader, adept at motivating, training, and managing a staff with diverse skills, gifts, expertise, and experience
- Understanding the critical role Advancement plays in fulfilling the school’s mission, and a relentless commitment to achieving Advancement goals
- Resourceful, committed, self-directed, and goal-oriented with an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong work ethic, and keen attention to detail
- Focused and disciplined, with the ability to formulate an effective timeline, to establish and prioritize next steps, and to execute an effective strategy for success
- Familiarity with IRS regulations as they relate to philanthropic giving and industry accounting and reporting standards
