Staff Accountant – Mission Support Centers
Location: Denver, CO multiple locations

The Archdiocese of Denver is seeking a Staff Accountant for our Mission Support Centers to support our parishes, schools, and Pastoral Center employees while advancing our mission to rescue all people in Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father.

Key Responsibilities
- Payment, Deposit, and Cash Management: Ensure timely and accurate payment of bills, post deposits, and manage Accounts Receivable/Payable functions to maintain cash flow and financial accountability, while overseeing cash flow and investment activities to ensure proper documentation and adherence to policies.
- Journal Entries, Account Reconciliation, and Period-End Closing: Create and post journal entries in compliance with accounting standards, reconcile accounts regularly, and execute month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure financial integrity and smooth period-end closings, while generating and delivering accurate financial reports for leadership as needed.
- Tax, Compliance, and Fixed Assets Management: Review and reconcile quarterly retirement plan contributions for accuracy and compliance, reconcile Forms 941, W-2, and W-3, prepare and distribute annual 1099 Forms, and maintain detailed and accurate records of fixed assets, including tracking depreciation and asset lifecycle management.
Qualifications

- A practicing Catholic eager to carry out the mission of the Archdiocese to rescue all people in Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father.
- Align with the values and mission of the Catholic Church and possess a willingness to practice human resources from this faithful perspective.
- Associates Degree or higher in accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, including accounts payable, journal entries, and reconciliation.
- Handle sensitive financial information with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, while prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently in fast-paced environments to meet deadlines and objectives
- Adaptable and proactive, thrive in dynamic environments, applying solution-driven approaches to meet evolving challenges. Leverage business acumen, creativity, and GAAP expertise to address financial and operational issues effectively.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats, ensuring accurate documentation and timely project updates. Highly organized and detail-oriented, manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining financial accuracy.
