The Position
Holy Cross School is seeking a part-time Primary Teacher Assistant.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and is devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods. They must have a compassionate and positive attitude and the ability to assist with small group instruction.
This position is 10-months, August through May, and the Teacher Assistant will work 20 hours per week, 8:00am to 12:00pm daily.
The Teacher Assistant is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position reporting to the Lead Teacher and receives direction from the Director of Curriculum & Instruction and Principal. The school year shall consist of 190 days, included in these days are regular school days, in-service days, and opening-closing days.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education preferred.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assist lead teacher with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
Review lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
Oversee students during instruction and non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and on-field excursions.
Collaborate with lead teacher to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.
Document student progress and communicate with teachers.
Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
Attend professional development, training, parent conferences, and faculty meetings as necessary.
Use discipline models to maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, faculty, and administrators.
Work with lead teacher to monitor the class schedule.
Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, etc.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
