Job Description Position Title: Administrative Assistant to the Director of Religious Education
Supervisor: Director of Religious Education, Pastor/Administrator
Hours: Full-time - Non-Exempt; will include evenings and weekends
Parish Summary: The Avon Catholic Community comprises two parishes, St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception and Holy Trinity. Both parishes are located in Avon, Ohio, a suburban community located on the west side of the Diocese of Cleveland. Serving approximately 3000 plus families.
Position Summary: The Administrative Assistant to the Director of Religious Education plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient operations within the PSR program and Sacrament preparation for the Avon Catholic Community. This position involves providing essential support to the Director of Religious Education, maintaining and organizing files and records, playing a key role in planning First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation as well as assisting the PSR program on PSR evenings. The ideal candidate should be creative and possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities. This position offers the opportunity to be an integral part of and contribute to the success of a dynamic Avon Catholic team.
Position Responsibilities: Maintains and organizes PSR registration, and PSR records Assigns students to classes in the PSR program Assists the DRE in the recruitment of volunteers for the PSR program as well as sacrament preparation Regularly meets with DRE and PSR level coordinators to ensure organization, and effective communication in the PSR program Provides communication from the DRE to the level coordinators Creates a schedule with the DRE to attend PSR evenings to ensure safety, stability and smooth operation of the program Helps organize catechist meetings, and open houses Assists the DRE in responding to parent emails and phone calls related to PSR and sacrament preparation Collaborates with parish office secretary to maintain and record sacramental records Assists the DRE with sacrament programming and preparation of sacrament meetings for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation Assists the DRE with planning and organizing adult religious education experiences Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Faithful, passionate Catholic disciple and role model who recognizes their own need for growth and a sense of self-worth that comes from being a child of God and a minister second. Solid understanding of the teachings and theology of the Roman Catholic Church. Excellent organizational and time management skills, creative solution seeker, enthusiastic collaborator, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Ability to interact with youth, parents, staff and parishioners. Strong verbal, written, and communication skills. Ability to adapt and lead as well as quick effective decision making skills. Understand and adhere to all aspects of Diocesan Safe Environment standards. Ability to operate office technology as well as learn new office technology or software.
