JOB TITLE: Youth Minister
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Religious Education and Sacramental Preparation
HOURS: Part-time
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Middle School and High School Youth Minister. The ideal candidate will have the ability to dynamically shepherd the Youth and Young adults of Saint Henry Parish and accompany them on their spiritual journey as they grow their relationship with Christ. The Minister of these programs is an important catechetical leader for our Youth and Young adults and so a Catholic with solid understanding and support of the teachings of the Catholic Church is a must.
This part-time position collaborates with the Coordinator of Religious Education and Sacramental Preparation, Religious Education assistant, volunteers, Parish Staff, and Clergy to develop and integrate Youth Ministry into our Parish Life.
The Youth Minister position requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate some evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate has excellent organization and communication skills, high energy, takes initiative, and can relate well with Youth of Middle and High School ages.
The Youth Minister will perform a wide variety of activities and responsibilities to direct and coordinate a dynamic faith filled Youth Ministry program aimed at helping our Youth develop as disciples of Jesus Christ and grow into a deeper relationship with Him and His Church. The ministry of the Youth Minister will be directed towards 6th - 12th grades.
The Minister will engage the Youth and provide opportunities to plant the seeds of faith and help them to encounter Christ, as well as provide them opportunities to learn the tools to live out their Catholic faith in the world as they progress to adulthood.
To that end, the Youth Minister is responsible for the development, coordination, supervision and implementation of programs designed to engage the Youth of the Parish. This person will need to develop close communication with, and mutual support from families of Youth, adult volunteers, Office Staff, and Clergy to assist with the development of the Youth program.
This person must possess a spirit and heart for ministry as well as the ability to organize and run a comprehensive, educational, and fun engaging ministry.

• Proficient in PC or Mac; including Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point and Outlook, etc.
• Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures with friendly
communication etiquette
• Ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively
• Proficiency with social media platforms and the ability to create
content, i.e. Facebook, Instagram
• Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus
Key Tasks:
• Ensure that Youth Ministry is orthodox, prayerful, and focused on
building relationships with Christ and His Church
• Create working calendar for weekly meetings and events
• Connect and build relationships with the Youth
• Develop and foster a culture among the Youth that is focused on
evangelization, discipleship and leadership
• Provide opportunities for the Youth to hear and respond to the
Gospel message and to spread the Good News such as: weekly
gatherings, community building activities, service opportunities,
retreats, national, regional, and diocesan conferences, summer
Religious Education, advocacy events, rallies, and trainings
• Foster Youth involvement and leadership in the Parish, by serving on
committees, and in activities
• Help connect Parish high school graduates to local college Catholic
ministries
• Recruit, train and supervise volunteers, ensuring Safe Environment
standards
• Coordinate joint efforts with the Diocesan Office of Youth
Ministries and the Office of Vocations
• Participate in the life and activities of the Parish and develop
opportunities for Youth to be visibly present and involved with the
larger Parish community.
• Have an active presence in the Parish, by attending weekend Mass at
Saint Henry, building relationships with the parishioners and families,
and encouraging them in their faith.
• Attend Faith Formation department meetings and Parish Staff
meetings
• Be a resource contact for Youth Ministry for Parish Staff, Finance
Council and larger Community
• Fundraise for major events and maintain budget
• Plan events and activities specifically designed to recruit new Youth
members both inside and outside the Parish community into the
program
• Reach out to Youth and their families, particularly those on the
peripheries; to invite them to a personal encounter with Christ, and
to walk with them on their faith journey
Administrator:
• Facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of Youth
Ministry mission and vision
• Effectively and creatively provide communication to the Youth,
parents, Parish, and community regarding activities and events
through the use of church bulletin, Flock Note, Mass
announcements, and social media.
• Develop and maintain records and a database of information
pertinent to Youth Ministry such as membership lists, resource
materials, event information
• Provide reports for all Youth Ministry budgetary funds, allocations,
grants and gifts
• Work in conjunction with the Safe Environment office to develop and
enforce policies that keep young people safe
Personal Development:
• Participate in ongoing formation and maintain a personal
commitment to holiness being sure to frequent the sacraments and
seek Christ in daily prayer
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Employees should be able to meet the physical and mental demands of all the aforesaid key tasks, skills, and attributes. Duties require a flexible work schedule and availability throughout the week, including frequent evening and weekend work. Regular driving and valid Oklahoma driver's license are required. Qualified candidates will be on their feet for much of the day and must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the Diocese of Tulsa and Saint Henry Parish.
All employees are required by the Diocesan Safe Environment Policy to be background checked and to complete online VIRTUS training.
