This position will support the new Saint Francis specialty pharmacy services scheduled to begin in early 2025 near Warren Clinic Tower. Onboarding and training will occur at select Saint Francis outpatient pharmacies in the Tulsa area prior to specialty pharmacy services starting.
Job Summary: Provide leadership and directions to pharmacy staff (pharmacist, technicians, secretary, clinical pharmacy specialist) to assure operational efficiency and services goals are met. Serve as an example for job performance expectations, develop policies and procedures to support productivity and promote a positive work environment. Serve as representative of pharmacy services on multi-disciplinary committees and workgroups. Complete work schedules, monitor staff compliance with department and organizational standards for actively engaged employees.
Minimum Education: Graduation from accredited school of Pharmacy; Pharm.D. preferred, D.Ph. will be considered.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: State of Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy license or eligible for License Reciprocity.
Work Experience: 3 - 4 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good organizational, verbal and writing skills. Knowledgeable of Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Team player, self-motivated, good problem solving skills, effective verbal skills to influence job performance and team building.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Participates in department human resource functions (e.g. interviews, orient/train, appraisals, counsel/discipline & staff work schedules and responsibilities in compliance with SFH policies and procedures or work load needs). Reviews all medication variance reports and allergy interaction reports to determine appropriate follow-up action(s), responsible for implementing corrective actions and communicate to pharmacy staff and hospital personnel. Performs staff pharmacist's drug distribution functions on weekends and as needed (order review of physician orders, IV admixture preparation and other ordered medication, checks technician work, etc.) Proves other operational support by: participation in special projects (e.g. P&P updates, TJC preparation, standing order revision, statistical & workload reports, investigational drug studies, etc.) Assist with formulary management to assure cost effective availability of agents, maintain and updates pixies and APRS database. Receives feedback from and communicates changes to pharmacy and nursing personnel when appropriate to assure optimum patient care processes are maintained. Participates on standing or ad hoc inter-disciplinary SFH committees to assist in the integration of pharmacy services into other patient care areas and activities. Provides weekly and/or monthly updates to DOP regarding overtime utilization, staffing concerns, service issues, performance issues and clinical activities performed by staff pharmacist and technicians.
Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.
Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others - No. of people supervised: (40-50) Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
