POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Principal, the Preschool Director is responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for children enrolled in the Preschool program and for ensuring that the program is supportive of the school’s philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Preschool Director is also responsible for overseeing the administration and daily operations of the Preschool, adhering to all licensing and state regulations, and maintaining compliance with state and local requirements. The Director works in conjunction with the teaching team to design, implement and evaluate a culturally and developmentally appropriate program. This is a 12-month contracted position with some summer work outside of the Preschool program’s school-year calendar.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (and other duties as assigned):
Plan, lead, organize, control, direct and evaluate the Preschool program and its day-to-day operations.
Work collaboratively within any regulatory structure, interpreting and adapting Preschool policies and procedures to ensure that all licensing requirements are met.
Train, manage, and supervise Preschool staff.
Maintain employee records per regulatory requirements.
Ensure a safe and healthy environment based on the safety and behavioral standards of the school.
Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate educational enrichment curriculum that expands and supports student learning experiences.
Collaborate with the Principal on all aspects of the Preschool program, including but not limited to:
o Hiring
o Staff supervision and training o Student supervision
o Book-keeping
o Resource management
o Communications
o Records
o Budget-setting
Complete and ensure the timely submission of all internally and externally required reports,applications, and administrative documents.
Plan and participate in on-site and off-site learning opportunities in accordance with a professional development plan that reflects regulatory and personal professional needs and interests.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
Comply with security procedures, including attendance, pick-up, and emergency procedures to ensure the children’s safety.
Prepare program materials.
Maintain confidentiality over student and institutional information.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

Education and/or Experience:
12 core semester units in early childhood education/development, 3 semester units in Administration or Staff Relations, and 4 years teaching experience in a supervised group Child Care Center, or
Associate’s degree in child development, 3 units Administration and 2 years teaching experience, or
Bachelor’s degree in child development, 3 units Administration and 1-year teaching experience
At least two years’ experience working in a Preschool.
Current Infant First Aid and CPR certification.
Leadership Skills:
Coaching/Mentoring.
Language Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of the school.
English, required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese) preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficient at word processing, presentation, and electronic mail applications.
Experience with school information systems (SIS).
Working knowledge of Workday, or willingness to learn.
Proficient with admission software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, repetitive motion, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, stretching, twisting.
Can operate standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, personal computer, telephone, and alarm system.
Can lift 25 lbs. in compliance with safety standards.
Level of vision, hearing, speaking required.

Able to work evenings and weekends if required.
Able to work summer months in limited capacity.
Must have an understanding and acceptance for the mission of the Catholic Church.
Must support the teachings and values of the Catholic Church and its mission and act as a Minister of the Faith.
Salary Range: $71,407.30 – $82,662.87 per year based on education and experience.
