Position Summary:
The Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for the Diocese of Charleston is responsible for the consolidation of financial operations, budgeting, and strategic and capital planning for parishes, schools, and other church entities. The Manager of FP&A plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health, sustainability, and operational vitality of all organizations within the Diocese of Charleston. The Manager of FP&A will also assist the Bishop and the CFO in planning for the continued growth of the Catholic Church in South Carolina.

Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to forecast revenues, expenses, and cash flows.
- Analyze the trends of key performance indicators (KPIs) and summarize for reporting and proposed action.
- Monitor KPIs and financial statements and identify the cause of any unexpected variances.
- Present the quarterly financial reports of the consolidated organization to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Develop financial models and analyze them to support strategic long-term initiatives, including capital planning.
- Support the management team and Department Leaders with data-driven analysis.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulations at all parishes, schools, and other related entities.
- Automate and improve standard operating procedures.
Requirements:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, financial analysis, planning, budgeting or related roles. Previous Big 4 accounting experience preferred.
- Command of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong financial analysis skills, with a focus on identifying trends and projections.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and stress management skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
- Strong adopter of new technology required.
- Ability to self-start and be a critical thinker is desirable.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: The candidate should have knowledge of how to use copier, fax machine, phone, and postage machine. A driver’s license is required to occasionally run errands, pick up supplies for events, etc. This position involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands and feet, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching above shoulders, and tasting/smelling at least 1/3 of the time. The candidate should also be able to lift up to 25 lbs in order to move files, purchase supplies, carry materials to events, etc.
