The development coordinator will assist in all aspects of fundraising to support our mission. The position will assist in multi-faceted donor stewardship, processing online and cash donations, utilizing our fundraising database through data entry and reporting functions, provide administrative support for the department, as well as gain experience assisting with special event planning and execution, the creation and execution of our annual appeals (to include #iGiveCatholic and Catholic Annual Appeal of South Carolina), and assist with grant opportunity research and applications.
The position will also provide organization and administrative assistance to the Catholic Community Foundation of South Carolina under the direction of the Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation of South Carolina.

Responsibilities:
- Primary importance will be placed on ensuring employee learns and becomes proficient with Stewardship database system(s) within the first three months of employment.
- Under the direction of Major Gift Officer, the Secretary, or Director, assist with the logistics involved in planning and conducting donor appreciation events, fundraising events, legacy giving workshops, and annual appeal training workshops.
- Assist Director and Secretary with the diocesan annual appeal in the preparation of promotional materials, training materials, and direct mail.
- Coordinate with Communications Department at direction of supervisor regarding marketing strategy and projects for benefit of Stewardship through social media posts, newsletters, e-blasts, and the Diocese Stewardship website.
- Assist with donors and client inquiries.
- Assist Secretary and Director with the promotion, research, and monitoring of the internal and external grant process for support of Diocese ministries with foundations and trusts that support the work of the Diocese.
- Assist with execution of #iGiveCatholic, to include participant outreach and assistance and marketing at the direction of Secretary.
- Duties will include assistance with soliciting sponsorships and mailings, weekly emails, fielding inquiries and questions from participants, working with Office of Multimedia on design and marketing.
- Serve as the telephone reception for the Department; interact with public on general questions and transfer calls and take messages as appropriate.
- Type and mail office correspondence.
- Coordinate all incoming and outgoing mail for Department.
- Manage office calendar and meeting room reservations.
- Oversee Diocesan-wide mailings and packet assembly as needed.
- Prepare all check requests for outside vendors to include management of logged requests.
- Manage office reimbursement requests.
- Inventory and oversee ordering office supplies.
- Maintain office filing system.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Secretary or Executive Director to include special projects to assist in overall fundraising and stewardship advancement efforts.
Requirements:
Performance Appraisal: Performance will be appraised on an annual basis.
Working conditions: This is a full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend work. Travel and overnight travel are required.
Physical demands: Light physical effort required. Regularly required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, bend, lift, listen, talk and perform computer keyboarding. May need to transport items weighing up to 20 pounds. A valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance at least at the Diocesan minimum are required. Expected to work onsite with regular travel throughout the Diocese.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree or a minimum of three years of related and relevant experience in fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective use of computer and other technologies, with practical familiarity or eagerness to learn various donor database and prospect research solutions.
- A practicing Catholic in good standing with an excellent understanding of Church teaching and Church structure with a dedicated commitment and strong, faith-based stewardship approach to the raising of funds.
- Spanish language skills a plus.
- Must be able to complete the Diocesan Safe Environments Training and a satisfactory background check.
