Elementary Teacher Purpose:
The Elementary Grade Teacher (grades K-4), under the general supervision of the Headmaster, advises on and implements curriculum, teaching all subject areas while nurturing a joy and love of learning in students.
Responsibilities:
-Curriculum and Lesson Planning: Plan and implement lessons in all subject matters.
-Progress Monitoring: Maintain an ongoing record of student behavioral and academic progress. Document concerns, provide constructive feedback, and regularly communicate student progress with parents and school administration.
-Differentiated Instruction: Implement a variety of teaching techniques, including individual and small group instruction, to meet the diverse needs of students.
-Classroom Management: Establish clear expectations, procedures, and routines for student behavior and consistently reinforce school expectations.
-Classroom Environment: Maintain a positive, supportive classroom environment centered on virtue, respect, and Catholic values.
-Discipline: Address student failure to meet expectations and provide appropriate discipline as needed, fostering responsibility and respect.
-Model Catholic Faith: Actively participate in daily school prayers and daily Mass, modeling Catholic virtues for students. Lead students in prayers throughout the day, including the Angelus, the Rosary, Grace before Meals, and the Act of Contrition.
Qualifications:
-Fidelity to Catholic Teaching: Must be passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church, embracing and promoting the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
-Education: An education-related degree and/or teaching experience is preferred but not required.
-Skills:
+Ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
+Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, fellow faculty/staff, and parents.
