Middle School Teacher Purpose:
The Middle School Teacher (grades 5-8), under the general supervision of the Headmaster, implements the grade-appropriate curriculum in single-grade or combined-grade classrooms. The teacher will teach all subject areas while nurturing a joy and love of learning in students, helping them to grow both academically and spiritually.
Responsibilities:
-Curriculum and Lesson Planning: Plan and implement lessons in all subject matters.
-Student Progress Monitoring: Maintain an ongoing record of student behavioral and academic progress. Document concerns, provide constructive feedback to students, and regularly communicate student progress with parents and school administration.
-Differentiated Instruction: Implement a variety of teaching techniques to meet the diverse needs of students, providing individual or small group instruction when necessary.
-Classroom Management: Establish clear expectations, procedures, and routines for student behavior, and reinforce the school's expectations consistently.
-Classroom Environment: Maintain a positive classroom environment centered on virtue, respect, and Catholic values.
Discipline: Address student failure to meet behavioral and academic expectations with appropriate discipline as needed, fostering a sense of responsibility and respect.
-Model Catholic Faith: Actively participate in daily school prayers, including daily Mass, and model Catholic virtues for students. Lead students in traditional prayers throughout the day, such as the Angelus, the Rosary, Grace before Meals, and the Act of Contrition.
Qualifications:
-Fidelity to Catholic Teaching: Must be passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church, embracing and promoting the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
-Education: A degree in teaching or a related field is preferred but not required.
-Experience: Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
-Skills:
+Ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
+Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, fellow faculty/staff, and parents.
