Reports to: Principal and Chaplain
St. Benedict at Auburndale, a Catholic high school in the Diocese of Memphis, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Campus Minister to serve as a spiritual leader within our school community. Key Responsibilities
Faith Formation & Spiritual Leadership
- Lead and organize school-wide liturgies, prayer services, and retreats.
- Provide opportunities for student prayer, reflection, and spiritual development.
- Offer pastoral counseling and spiritual guidance to students, faculty, and staff.
- Support the integration of Catholic values into the school’s religious education curriculum.
Retreats & Religious Activities
- Coordinate and lead student retreats at various grade levels.
- Facilitate faculty and staff retreats to strengthen their spiritual journey.
- Organize and oversee prayer services, Masses, and religious celebrations in alignment with the liturgical calendar.
Community Engagement & Service
- Encourage student participation in service projects that reflect Catholic social teaching.
- Develop partnerships with parishes and community organizations to expand outreach initiatives.
- Promote service-learning opportunities that inspire students to live out their faith in action.
Fostering Catholic Identity
- Work with school leadership to ensure that Catholic values are at the heart of all school activities.
- Empower students through leadership roles in faith-based organizations, such as peer ministry or student chaplain programs.
- Support faculty in integrating Catholic teachings into their classrooms and daily interactions.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and administration to support student development.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to Catholic ministry and education.
- Participate in diocesan and local ministry events to stay connected with the broader faith community.
Pastoral Care & Student Support
- Offer spiritual and emotional support to students facing challenges or personal crises.
- Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality in addressing students’ pastoral needs.
- Partner with school counselors to foster a holistic approach to student well-being.
Qualifications & Desired Attributes
- Practicing Catholic with a deep commitment to Church teachings and values.
- Degree in theology, ministry, religious education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in youth ministry, pastoral care, or religious education, preferably in a high school setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage with students and staff.
- Passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive, and faith-filled community.
- Organized, proactive, and creative in developing faith-based initiatives.
