Job Description
St. Benedict at Auburndale, a Catholic high school within the Diocese of Memphis, is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Theology Teacher for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will be committed to the mission of Catholic education, fostering both the intellectual and spiritual growth of students while upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Catholic doctrine and the curriculum guidelines set forth by the Diocese of Memphis.
- Teach a variety of Theology courses, which may include Scripture, Church History, Moral Theology, and Sacramental Theology.
- Incorporate the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture, and Church Tradition into daily instruction.
- Foster a classroom environment rooted in Catholic values, emphasizing respect, compassion, and moral integrity.
- Encourage student participation in discussions on faith, ethics, and moral decision-making.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty members and campus ministry staff to enhance students’ faith formation.
- Support and participate in school-wide liturgical celebrations, retreats, service opportunities, and prayer experiences.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding academic progress and spiritual development.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and spiritual growth opportunities.
- Serve as a positive role model in faith and leadership for the school community.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a commitment to Catholic education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching experience in a Catholic school setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic doctrine, tradition, and teachings of the Magisterium.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and campus ministry.
- Passion for evangelization and nurturing the faith life of high school students.
