Position Summary:
St. Benedict at Auburndale (SBA), a Catholic, coeducational high school in the Diocese of Memphis, seeks a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor who is committed to supporting the academic, social-emotional, and spiritual development of students in grades 9–12. The School Counselor will be a vital member of our student support team, working closely with faculty, administration, and families to ensure students thrive in a faith-centered educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic counseling and assist students with course selection, college and career planning, and personal goal-setting.
- Support students in managing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges through individual and group counseling.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop student support plans and foster a positive school climate.
- Guide students through the college application process, including essay development, application submission, and scholarship opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school and diocesan policies.
- Coordinate with external mental health professionals and community resources as needed.
- Promote and uphold the Catholic identity, values, and mission of St. Benedict at Auburndale in all interactions with students and families.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field required.
- Valid Tennessee School Counselor License (or eligibility for licensure).
- Prior experience working in a high school or educational setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
- A commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church (practicing Catholic preferred but not required).
