Job Summary: Responsible for receiving and distribution of supplies/equipment within the department. Assures availability of supplies and/or equipment needed to satisfy requirements of internal/external customers.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Basic math skills for converting quantities. Basic PC skills as required for entering data.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Responsible for retrieving, cleaning and subsequent testing/working order of equipment before placing in equipment holding area. Responsible for ordering, receiving and stocking of supplies. Completing all appropriate processing, inventory, stocking, distribution and delivery duties in a timely manner. Performs regular inventory of supplies in stock room and satellite storage areas to ensure supplies available when needed for patient care. Ensures all cardboard is kept in designated storage area and all open supply boxes are moved to stock to comply with Joint Commission standards. Performs maintenance and environmental activities to assure a clean and safe unit. Maintains storage system in compliance with fire/safety codes/ Utilized aseptic techniques to protect self, patient and co- workers. Responsible for transporting compressed gas cylinder to and from proper locations ensuring empty cylinders are placed in empty racks. Assists with oxygen, air and suction shut downs. Acts as a customer service representative to departments by answering/returning calls to assist with supply related inquiries and resolving purchasing issues.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships: Works directly with customers. Works with customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
