The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Assistant teachers aid the lead teacher in the success of a well-run classroom. Assistant teachers help lead teache r implement the daily lessons, aid in classroom management, keep the classroom clean, and foster family relationships . Assistants should be flexible should their classroom placement need to change abruptly to accommodate the center's needs. Assistant teachers are crucial in professionally relaying information to parents when the lead teacher is not available . Assistants should also be ready to step in as the lead teacher should the lead teacher be out for the day.
- Greets parents and students as they enter the classroom
- Manage classroom in the absence of lead teacher
- Assists with special programs, trips and lunches
- Attend all applicable school functions including, but not limited to, parent teacher conferences, Christmas Concert, staff meetings, field trips and graduation.
- Must attend minimum of 12 hours of training each calendar year.
- TB test (must be renewed every 2 years)
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
- Experience in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field is preferred
- Experience working with young children 6 weeks to 5 years old
- Familiarity and understanding of early education regulations preferred

- Must have ability to interact with students on the floor and at children table level.
- Must have necessary skills and the ability to work with children
- Must have ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and be self-motivated
- Must have good interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to tolerate varying temperatures and climate changes
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time and work with children on floor
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Must have own transportation, valid driver's license and proof of insurance
- Must complete "Protecting God's Children" course and pass back ground check
