St. James Catholic School in North Miami, Florida has an opening for a full-time Maintenance Assistant. This position will be responsible for custodial duties to ensure that the facilities appearance positively reflects and enhances the school and church. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and tenets of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Additionally, on-call as needed.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Tends to the cleaning and custodial care of the school and parish facilities.
- Empties trash containers, refills liners, disposes of all trash in a sanitary way, using bags placed in the dumpsters.
- Removes litter and debris from all areas, observing proper disposal practices.
- Cleans restrooms.
- Takes care of minor plumbing repairs.
- Organizes and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment.
- Monitors daily the condition of and takes care of the facilities. Seeks resolutions as necessary.
- Lifts and/or moves boxes and furniture.
- Completes tasks according to appropriate specifications, standards/best work practices and within scheduled parameters.
- Keeps supervisor apprised of progress, notifying him of delays.
- Reports maintenance concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Prioritizes assignments while managing several projects at the same time.

- Must have a pleasant, service-oriented demeanor with good people skills.
- Supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
