Description & Requirements
St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, is seeking a part-time Youth Minister to encourage and motivate youth to develop their relationship with God while fostering a sense of community and belonging among young people.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Facilitate a program such as Life Teen/Edge or a similar program
- Teach the Confirmation program (Monday evenings)
- Plan activities and events for youth (Sunday afternoons)
- Have a flexible schedule and be able to attend Parish Council meetings when necessary
- Foster the involvement of young people in the life of the parish, including serving in parish ministries and participating in parish events
- Coordinate volunteer opportunities and community service projects for the church and others (20 hours)
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for teenagers
- Build positive relationships with our youth, parents, and other church members
- Communicate and work with the parish Secretary and Pastor regularly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Energetic with the ability to engage teenage parishioners
- Must have knowledge of the Catholic faith and be able to share this with youth to help them develop their faith
Additional Requirements:
- Must complete a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening
- Must complete the Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources
- Must adhere to diocesan policies and procedures
Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Must be flexible with work schedule, especially on Holy Days and special events.
