Description
Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the accounts receivable transactions for the Diocese of Corpus Christi and five related non-profit corporations. This position will be responsible for utilizing accounting principles, practices and internal control procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial information and statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including the preparation of necessary work needed to complete the annual independent audits. The Accounts Receivable Specialist will have contact with the Chief Financial Officer, Controller, internal department staff, and location administration which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Ministerial Character:

In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
- Prepare and distribute monthly Accounts Receivable Statements to all locations
- Prepare and execute collection communications for past-due invoices and account balances
- Reconcile outstanding Accounts Receivable balances to the general ledger monthly
- Prepare and issue various invoices to locations
- Post daily deposits and reconcile cash receipts to detail and general ledger
- Work with parishes and schools in addressing their accounting needs related to diocesan invoices and account balances
- Respond to inquiries from the Chief Financial Officer, Controller and other department managers
- Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements
- Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
- Minimum of three years of experience with duties and responsibilities in a non-profit accounting department
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong mathematical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word
- Ability to operate general office equipment and computer hardware including 10-key by touch
- Must have extensive experience with computerized accounting system
Additional Requirements:
- Submit to employment required screenings including criminal background, MVR and drug screening.
- Obtain certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources.
- Position requires adherence to diocesan policies and procedures, as well as exceptional collegiality and ability to work in a team environment
