Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Leadership is responsible for the overall management of traditional events, Campus Activities Board and Student Government Association. The Assistant Director of Student Engagement helps to create campus community that is conducive to all manner of student development including academic, social, spiritual, cultural, and physical dimensions. The Assistant Director of Student Engagement assists in developing a student activities operation which is reflective of the University Mission as a Roman Catholic, Liberal Arts institution. The Catholic mission manifests itself in the work of all staff within the Division of Student Affairs, where we are committed to the education of the whole person, in relationship to God, self and others.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Campus Activities Board:
- Serve as advisor to the Campus Activities Board;
- Coordinate the search for the Campus Activities Board Executive Committee;
- Coordinate fall, winter and spring retreats/training for the Campus Activities Board;
- Manage the Campus Activities Board budget of approximately $225K;
- Attend weekly Campus Activities Board executive staff and general member meetings;
- Create schedule of events for all Campus Activities Board programming, as well as weekend events;
- Coordinate logistics of reserving spaces and advertising for each event;
- Submit all check requests for events;
- Work with the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership, General Counsel, and outside agents on contracts for major campus events;
- Attend regularly scheduled planning meetings; and
- Monitor all expenditures and advertising.
Student Government Association:
- Serve as an advisor for one of the classes;
- Oversight of the Finance Committee in collaboration with the SGA VP of Finance;
- Submit all check requests for clubs and organizations on weekly basis; and
- Offer workshops to all student clubs and organizations on how to access funding, college policies, event planning, programming, advertising, and funding throughout the academic year;
Traditional Events:
- Coordinate the traditional events on campus.
Orientation and Summer Programming
- Oversee the process of recruiting, selecting, and training the Orientation Leaders;
- Serve as on campus administration for June's overnight program; and
- Assist the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership with Orientation schedules and training.
Other Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate the social media presence of OSEAL;
- Support and assist the programming efforts of other offices including Residential Life, Campus Ministry, Wellness Center, the Athletic Department, and the Cross-Cultural Center;
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly advisor meetings;
- Attend professional staff training retreats and in-service training session to enhance professional skills;
- Pursue professional development activities in order to stay abreast of developments and innovations in the field of student activities and maintains membership in any of the following: NACA, NASPA, ACPA;
- Serve as a member of the Student Affairs administrative team during major weekends and campus events;
- Assist with University special events such as, but not limited to, the Matriculation Ceremony, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Senior Week, Commencement, and the Crown and Shield Award Dinner;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University. An appreciation of the Catholic and Assumptionist mission of the University;
- Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree required and a minimum of two years of student activities experience;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Willing to work evenings and weekends;
- Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, and word processing software;

Interacts regularly with a variety of student committees and groups, students, staff, administrators, parents, agents, vendors, and performers.
Work includes evenings and weekends.
Compensation: In addition to annual salary, an on campus furnished apartment is provided
