Duties and Responsibilities

Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Plans for successful student learning of daily objectives that include basic knowledge and skills, and central concepts of the discipline
- Ensures students are engaged and successful in learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving
- Able to effectively manage time and materials
- Maintains current records for student grades and progress
- Holding at least one to two after-school practice per week during basketball seasons for cheerleaders and having girls perform at least one public event per quarter to promote the school
- Coordinating extra-curricular sports activities with the designated parties (practices last approximately 45 minutes to one hour, depending on how fast the students learn the material; in addition to games, we have about 10 events in a school year)
- Conduct duties with an encouraging and positive attitude towards both winning and losing setting a good example for his/her students and assistants
- Plan to host a summer camp in the summer and two Saturday camps, one in the fall, one in the spring, as approved by the principal and by the Office of Catholic Schools (additional compensation)
- Responsible for obtaining the appropriate materials and equipment to be used for instructional activities and taking good care of them
- Honor and adhere to the code and directives of the Parochial Sports League of the Diocese of Corpus Christi
- Contribute to school's social media outlets with photos and postings to promote school events in a positive light
- Performs any other duties that the Principal may deem necessary
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Texas driver's license

- Exhibits a willingness to devote necessary time outside of the school day to work with students
Additional Requirements:
- Must submit to required pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle check record check (MVR), and drug screening
- Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
- Requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures

- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
