General Position Summary
Directs K-2nd of a comprehensive parish Formation program, including applicable sacramental preparation. Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers; evaluates program curricula and supports parish as a resource in methods and theology. Assist in forming parents and volunteers to walk with these children in their faith in order to make disciples of them as well. Drives catechetical instruction in keeping with the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church.
Principal Accountabilities
- Accountable for K-1 and 2nd grade formation. Develops and implements parent/child formation content. Sacramental preparation for 2-5th grade. Communicates and cooperates with other parish and diocesan organizations.
- Invites, trains, motivates, evaluates, and promotes faith formation volunteers to support educational activity throughout the year and including assisting at the annual summer Catholic Camp/Program and children’s Stations of the Cross during Lent.
- Support, inform and guide all parish catechists in the areas of catechesis, doctrinal formation, liturgical formation, and pastoral formation.
- Establish a collaborative relationship with parents and families, facilitating opportunities for parents in their role as first and best teachers of the faith.
- Ensures (with assistance of Formation Administrator) necessary administrative requirements are followed, including but not limited to parental consent, safe environment, activity reporting and analysis, budget management.
- Professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Working Conditions And/or Physical Requirements
- This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding needs of the Diocese, tight deadlines and moderate workloads.
- Work will involve night and weekend hours.
- Ability to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time.
- Ability to accept work interruptions while remaining focused on duties.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance and up to 40 pounds with assistance.
Travel Requirements
- Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese Parishes and/or schools.
Education And Experience
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent in experience degree/license required.
- Previous personnel, volunteer management experience preferred.
