Description:
Purpose and Scope: to support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission in service of the Body of Christ. This position oversees the preparation and leadership of our youth ministry programs. The Coordinator will serve as a strong example to teens and the parish community, and must be someone who understands the dynamics of evangelization, conversion, and discipleship. The Coordinator must have good social skills, be familiar with typical youth ministry programs, and comply with Diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
Essential Job Functions specific to this position:
- Plan and Execute Life Teen and EDGE nights during the semester.
- Recruit, Train and Support Core Members.
- Plan Dinners once a week (preferably with volunteer support).
- Gather supplies and items needed for formation nights and events.
- Plan at least one Life Teen retreat and one EDGE retreat.
- Recruit, Train and Support Core Members
- Administrative work (i.e. creating forms, documentation for finances for camp and bus, brainstorming and writing content of retreat, etc.)
- Collaborate to ensure all students in grades 6-12 for Sacraments of Initiation
- Work closely with the Coordinator of Sacrament Prep
- Assist with retreats which would include Sacrament Prep Students
- Communication
- Distributes weekly Flocknote emails to all Families in EDGE, Life Teen, and Sacrament Preparation.
Prepares weekly bulletin announcements.
- Vacation Bible School
- Assist Coordinator of Religious Education
- Safe Environment Training for Teens
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Continued training and certification in the field of Youth Ministry and Formation.
- Working experience with Microsoft Office software including Word and Publisher.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle stressful situations.
- Ability to make decisions in a timely manner and communicate effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to set priorities and organize work effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Education requirements: A degree in theology, religious education, catechetics, or a related field is preferred; will consider 4-5 years of equivalent experience with HS Diploma. Certification in youth ministry and/or bilingual skills are a plus.
- Bilingual, English & Spanish requirements: English required, Spanish preferred.
