ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER
The assistant kitchen manager will assist the kitchen manager in all aspects of our evening dinner service of approximately 500 meals per night, including preparation, execution and clean-up.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIRED SKILLS
• Be able to direct volunteers to execute all duties of the dinner service.
• Work closely with the kitchen manager to identify daily tasks to be performed by staff or volunteers.
• Fill in for kitchen manager when absent.
• Must have understanding and sensitivity to group dynamics for each day's volunteer roster.
• Must, at a minimum, have a food handler's card (training towards food handling certificate will be made available to the candidate).
• Be willing to work towards obtaining further food certifications as necessary.
• Have a minimum of 1 year of hospitality experience.
• Be able to go the Food Bank and to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Have a personality conducive to meeting and communicating with new people daily.
• Be sensitive to the needs and life situations of our homeless guests.
COMPENSATION & HOURS
Part Time at 25 - 30 hours per week, or Full Time at 30 - 40 hours per week
$18.00 per hour
30-day probationary period
