The Senior Director for Children and Youth will oversee the management and strategic direction of childcare and youth programs within Catholic Charities. Working closely with the Executive Team, the Senior Director will be responsible for ensuring the fiscal integrity, growth, and operational performance of the Children and Youth division. The Senior Director will assume leadership in the absence of a direct report and will ensure program outcomes align with the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Working closely with the Vise President for Family and Youth Services, provide leadership and strategic direction for childcare programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Contribute to the development of organizational strategy, including marketing and resource development.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve program enrollment, service delivery, and fiscal performance in collaboration with program directors and stakeholders.
- Work to integrate childcare and youth services with other Catholic Charities divisions, creating a client-centered approach.
- Oversee the evaluation and development of childcare program models, ensuring compliance with EEC guidelines and industry standards.
- Ensure program compliance with licensing, food programs, and state contracts, in collaboration with the Vice President.
- Conduct regular reviews of program performance, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the budget process for the childcare and youth division, ensuring financial stability and regulatory compliance.
- Lead staff recruitment, retention, training, and development efforts across the childcare and youth division.
- Guide and mentor program directors in areas such as employee relations, performance management, and professional development.
- Oversee performance evaluations for childcare and youth division staff, ensuring reviews are conducted consistently.
- Conduct regular bi-weekly supervision meetings, coaching, and training to support staff development.
- Foster a positive work environment across all childcare programs, promoting work-life balance and employee wellness.
- Maintain community partnerships with local councils, boards, schools, and political leaders, supporting the division’s community presence.
- Represent Catholic Charities at local, state, and national levels to advocate for childcare services and policies.
- Participate in the annual budget planning process and monitor financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost-saving or investment.
- Work is performed in an office setting and various program locations. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for on-call emergencies, meetings, or community outreach. Regular travel between program sites is required.
- Attendance at meetings and trainings
- Travel as needed to perform responsibilities and participate in meetings and events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in education, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in early childhood education or childcare management, with a proven record of leadership and program growth.
- At least 5 years of senior-level supervisory and managerial experience.
- Knowledge of EEC guidelines, QRIS, UPK, NAEYC Accreditation, and CACFP, with a solid understanding of regulatory processes.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, demonstrating cultural competence.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing complex budgets, contracts, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment and meet organizational objectives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, virtual platforms, and other relevant software.
- Ability to travel locally and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel.
