The Diocese of Toledo is searching for a full-time Director of Student Services to join our Department of Catholic Education. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Catholic Education, the Director of Student Services develops a vision for inclusive Catholic education in the Diocese of Toledo and provides ministerial support to school leaders, teachers, and families on best practices in the field of special education. The Director of Student Services provides feedback on local responses to intervention, offers support for state scholarships, and assists in planning professional development opportunities related to special education and intervention services for teachers and administrators.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Serves as a member of the Department of Catholic Education, working diligently to build effective relationships with school leaders; to listen and seek to understand their complex issues, challenges, and opportunities
· Serves as subject matter expert on areas related to special education and intervention services. Provides feedback to school leaders, teachers, and intervention specialists working through team evaluations reports, individualized service plans, individualized educational plans, or minor adjustment plans.
· Works with diocesan schools to identify, develop, and implement necessary programs and innovative services to serve students at all levels.
· Serves as champion of various state scholarships for Catholic schools including the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship and the Autism Scholarship. Provides regular assistance to school leaders and scholarship administrators including but not limited to processing applications, billing, and documenting interventions.
· Provide guidance to school leaders for the proper and allowable use of Title III funds, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part B funding, and Title II-A funding.
· Plan, organize, and present professional development events, speakers, and interventions to teachers and administrators based on student data and nationally normed standardized testing information.
Candidates for the position must possess:
· Bachelor's degree in special education, educational leadership or closely related field. Master’s degree or equivalent in experience preferred.
· Previous teaching experience working with students with special needs required. Previous administrative experience working with intervention specialists and related services preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state Special Education laws and compliance procedures, particularly related to state scholarship programs. Knowledge and use of Special Education related services, assistive technology, behavior supports, educational options, restorative practices, social emotional learning, and curriculum materials that address the educational needs of students
