Position Description
The Diocese of Corpus Christi is seeking a part-time Diocesan School Health and Safety Services Coordinator. Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, the coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing health and safety services as well as health education initiatives for school personnel and students for Diocesan Catholic schools.
The Diocesan School Health and Safety Coordinator ensures compliance with immunization requirement mandates by TDSHS and Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCB ED) policies. The Coordinator facilitates School Emergency Operations Planning and networks with community partners and emergency response agencies for preparedness, prevention and effective emergency response. Duties also include conducting professional development workshops for school leaders and School Health Coordinators as well as implementing health and safety education programs to benefit students, staff and families.
The functions and responsibilities for this position are conducted in the assigned office space and on site of each Catholic school.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Coordinates student health services and ensures compliance with immunization requirements mandated by TDSHS
- Oversees the collection, tabulation and reporting of all health related assessment and ensures compliance with all reporting agencies
- Facilitates the School Safety Services on each campus and integrates programming and training for school staff in best practices for School Emergency Operations Management Plan
- Develops and conducts health and safety education programs for faculty, staff students, parents and other diocesan entities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Diocesan School Health and Safety Services Coordinator is preferably a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Nurse, licensed to practice in the State of Texas. An experienced LVN may also be considered for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in school health, community health, or pediatric/adolescent healthcare
- Should hold, or obtain upon hire, AHA or ARC CPR/AED Instructor and Provider Certifications and Texas DSHS Screener Certifications for Vision, Hearing, Spinal and Acanthosis Nigricans
- Experience and knowledge of school safety protocols or readiness to complete specific training are required
- One to three years of administrative and supervisory experience are preferred
- Essential qualities include effective project management skills, a passion for teaching adults and children, effective communication skills and a commitment to high standards of care and service to all stakeholders
Additional Requirements:
- Submit to employment required screening, criminal background check and drug screening
- Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures
- Valid Texas driver's license
