Position Summary
Walsh University, a private Catholic university in North Canton, Ohio is seeking qualified individuals for a full time Head Sprint football coach. The Head Sprint football coach will be responsible for the recruitment and all aspects of this program in collaboration with the VP of Athletics and Athletic Director. Walsh University is a member of NCAA Division II and will compete in the Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL).
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Planning, organizing and managing all phases of the Sprint football program including recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes.
- Foster and support the overall growth and maturation of the student-athlete.
- Supports the development of the Sprint Football program to improve skills specific to competition.
- Manage the sprint football operating budget.
- Responsible for design and execution of practice and game plans, construction of season schedules and supervision of travel to away games.
- Determining individual player abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and factoring these into the gameplay and strategy sessions.
- Establish and enforce rules of conduct as well as mentor student-athletes to foster spiritual, athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth; determine and implement disciplinary sanctions if student-athletes fail to comply with the team, athletic department, and/or University rules and regulations.
- Work in liaison with faculty, administrators, and staff to coordinate academic and athletic efforts and to share resources and ideas.
- Monitors academic progress to ensure eligibility with Walsh University requirements.
- Remain compliant with all rules, regulations, and policies set forth by Walsh University and the MSFL.
- Maintain and create fundraising opportunities for the growth of the program.
- Establish community service initiatives and present a positive image of the University through participation in the community.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Failure to comply by NCAA Division II rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination.
- Hire, train and manage assistant coaches, student workers, graduate assistants, volunteers or other staff reporting to this role.
- Provide periodic performance feedback to direct reports and coach direct report development.
- Work collaboratively with the Athletic Trainers and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
- Collaborate with Facilities/Grounds Crew to ensure assigned sport facility is maintained properly for optimal playability, cleanliness, and safety.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information, data and records. Properly use tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment
- Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Work Experience: 5 years of football coaching and recruitment experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
The incumbent will be required to sit, walk, talk, hear, and see with both near and far acuity. Must be able to effectively demonstrate different skills relating to football and be able to demonstrate proper weight training techniques. The head coach should be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The tasks involved with this position will be performed in a variety of environments, including an office environment, a classroom environment, and indoor and outdoor facilities. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to extremely noisy.
This role requires a flexible schedule and travel.
