The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston is looking for a motivated Benefits Assistant who has the aptitude to learn new skills, processes, and online systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, yet supportive work environment. This is a great entry level, part-time but benefit-eligible position (with the potential option to transition to full-time) for someone with strong administrative and organizational skills who wants to acquire knowledge and experience in the benefits industry. The Benefits Assistant will be part of a collaborative team that administers multiple benefit programs offered to 3,500+ employees working at 400+ locations throughout the Archdiocese of Boston. Benefit plans for current employees include medical, prescription, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, transition assistance, 401(k), and a custom paid family and medical leave program.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
· Supporting annual open enrollment for the health and dental plans and supplemental benefits
· Reviewing reports for data integrity
· Assisting with data entry and data scrubs
· Conducting benefits orientations
· Responding to calls and emails related to the various benefit plans
· Assisting with various mailings
· Supporting the benefits team with events, such as the health fair, vaccine clinic, and on-site wellness events
· Maintaining and updating files
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is preferred but not required. Relevant work experience considered in lieu of college degree.
· One to two years of experience in a Human Resources and/or Benefits and/or Communications function preferred.
· Strong Microsoft skills, particularity in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with graphic design, website maintenance, and webinar programs a plus.
· Knowledge of payroll and benefits software a plus.
· Knowledge of HIPAA compliance a plus.
· Ability to prioritize, work efficiently, complete tasks within deadlines, and multitask.
· High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
· Experience in handling confidential information.
· Ability to work independently.
· Ability to communicate effectively through e-mail and/or telephone.
· Willingness to support the mission of the Catholic Church. The ability to comfortably work with priests and religious sisters is greatly desired.
