Job purpose
Responsible for the safety and well-being of the residents during the evening, overnight and weekend hours. Residential Aides work in teams of two to maintain order and structure in the house and to hold the residents accountable to the rules and policies of Mercy Hospice. Each residential aide will have a primary area which will be in the Kitchen or Medication room.
Duties and responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fully comprehends, articulates and reflects in job performance the mission and philosophy of Mercy Hospice
- Performs hourly house checks and manages potential conflict among residents
- Responsible for supervising and checking resident chores
- Prepare and serves meals
- Performs light housekeeping which includes laundering the linen, cleaning staff bathrooms, mopping kitchen and dining room, and keeping the hallways and office areas clean and sanitized
- Assists and monitors residents medication distribution
- Performs urine drug tests and alcohol breathalyzer test as needed
- Responds to the door, telephone and client inquires
- Other duties as assigned

- Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond to changing priorities
- Understanding of the issues of women in residential recovery
- Ability to apply and enforce rules and regulations
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Experience working with persons with mental health and drug/alcohol issues
- Familiarity with industrial kitchen and basic cooking skills
Shifts Vacant:
Friday & Saturday 11pm-7am
Saturday & Sunday 11pm-7am
Saturday & Sunday 7am-3pm
Saturday & Sunday 3pm-11pm
