St. Jerome Catholic Church in Newport News is seeking a Full-Time Music Coordinator to lead and direct our vibrant music program.
This role involves planning and coordinating music for Masses, Holy Days, weddings, and funerals, managing choirs and musical groups, and maintaining a well-organized music library. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent experience, proficiency in accompanying instruments, and a strong understanding of Roman Catholic liturgy. Flexibility for special events is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead music for weekend Masses and special liturgies.
- Manage and train choirs and cantors.
- Oversee music library and purchase materials.
- Plan music for Sacramental Preparation events and religious services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent experience (1-3 years).
- Proficiency in accompanying instruments and vocal techniques.
- Strong knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy.
- VIRTUS training and background check required.
