Job Title: Men's Shelter Night Manager
Job Summary:
St. Vincent de Paul is seeking a dedicated Men's Shelter Night Manager to oversee the operations and safety of our shelter during evening and overnight hours. This individual will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring compliance with shelter policies, and providing support to shelter residents.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising shelter staff and volunteers
- Enforcing shelter policies and procedures
- Responding to emergencies or crises
- Providing support and resources to shelter residents
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in shelter management or social services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations
- Compassionate and empathetic towards individuals experiencing homelessness
- Ability to use a computer, copier, fax and other office equipment
Requirements:
- Availability to work evening and overnight shifts
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Pass background check through Diocese Child Protection
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk around shelter outdoor and indoor areas up to one city block.
- Ability to stay awake and alert during entire awake portion of shift.
- Ability to wake up and be alert to alarms, knocks on office door, or to telephone calls during the sleep portion of shift.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in crisis
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work overnight shifts
- Knowledge of community resources for men in need
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in social services or related field preferred
