Overview
Provides internal consulting assistance and analytical support for the ongoing development and deployment of the KofC illustration system (Navigator). Works with Actuarial, Marketing, New Business, ITS, Legal and other business areas to determine and document business requirements for the illustration system and then translates the business needs into technical specifications used by the system development vendor. Creates and executes test plans to ensure the accuracy of the system calculations and report language including documentation, analysis and de-bugging of errors. Responsible for products and projects of high complexity. Trains more junior Analysts.
Core Responsibilities
- Trains or provides appropriate training for more junior Analysts; coaches, provides feedback, counsels and motivates employees.
- Gathers and documents user requirements for the illustration system identifying issues, decisions, requirements, desired results and the changes and actions required to achieve results.
- Creates system specifications; documents all technical specifications and marketing and illustration regulations. Coordinates the appropriate reviews and obtains business and legal approval of the specifications.
- Using the actuarial test systems, Excel and Word creates report models to support and enhance text-based requirements, identify and validate requirements and document and communicate requirements. Coordinates the validation of model results with business sponsors.
- Conducts Unit level testing for the developers and System and Acceptance testing with and for the business. Tests specification deliverables to validate whether the requirements have been met; develops test scripts, test plans and test scenarios based on the as-is state as well as the to-be models to ensure that new functionality is correct; conducts regression testing to uncover any unexpected changes. Reviews, tracks and reports on test results.
- Supports the development of training materials and provides end user support, including assisting with user manuals and reference materials if needed. Assesses and evaluates all feedback from team members to ensure that the requirements necessary to correct any issues are addressed in future releases, iterations or versions of the product.
Skills Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of individual life insurance and annuity products, illustration compliance regulations, insurance taxation and product marketing concepts
- Excellent communication skills and business judgment. Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- Excellent team working skills and ability to collaborate with other business areas
- Analytical and problem solving skills to identify and facilitate resolution of issues
- Ability to manage time to meet aggressive timelines

- Can identify issues in advance and address them prior to their having an adverse impact on project schedules

- Strong math skills Preferred:
- Long-term care insurance and disability income insurance knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of quality assurance approaches, challenges and methods desirable Systems/Technical Knowledge:
- Strong computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, issue tracking software (e.g. Team Track) and Actuarial test system experience
- Navigator illustration software, KofC illustration software (in-force illustrations)
Compensation
The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,400-$140,500.
Education
Required:
- BA or BS with emphasis on computer science or business
- 5+ years of related insurance industry, accounting and finance experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
Authorization To Work In The United States Is Required.
