Overview
Coordinates and delivers timely input into the tax and regulatory filing efforts. Generates required documentation, on a timely basis, of all policy taxation and regulatory reporting matters for U.S. , Puerto Rico and Canada. Researches, documents, and analyzes clients’ inqueries in order to prepare and deliver timely responses. Identifies areas of improvement within daily functions and internal procedures.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyzes information relative to policyholder, field force and Home Office staff inquiries regarding taxable events that stem from transactions processed on life and annuity products. Researches and reconstructs transaction history resulting in taxable reporting to provide a detailed response to the inquiry.
- Prepares annual policy level notifications required to comply with current regulations. Prepares required tax forms, tax notices and correspondence as needed.
- Monitor system and user-input data for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Escalate any system issues uncovered to management for review and resolution. Follow-through to completion the correction of any uncovered errors and provide guidance to processing areas to ensure proper processing in the future.
- Parter with the Legal Department to maintain compliance with internal processing and procedures. Report and document any procedural changes needed stemming from legal guidance.
- Identify potential system and procedural enhancements to decrease manual intervention and increase through-put processing.
Skills Qualifications
Required:
- Insurance product knowledge
- Knowledge of KofC rules and administrative systems
- Strong ability to communicate effectively to all personnel on complex business issues and integrate technical concepts
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills
- Analytical skills
- Experience with business analysis
- Ingenium, Life70, IDM, AWD
- Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint
- Navigator and imaging systems Preferred:
- Knowledge of tax laws regarding insurance and annuity products desired
Education
Required:
- BS or BA degree
- 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
Compensation
The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $59,200-91,700.
