OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIY
The Director of Youth Faith Formation is an integral member of the parish staff with professional preparation and pastoral sensitivity to all members of the parish and community. This person provides direct ministry to the children of the parish and assists in coordinating sacraments and events outlined below. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) twelve-month position with flexible hours. Reports to the Pastor of St Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, coordinates and administers the faith formation program for grades K-8-8 at St. Catherine and St. Agnes.
- Coordinates the Holy Communion and Reconciliation programs at St. Catherine and St. Agnes.
- Creates innovative one-day retreats for grades K-8-8.
- Prepares and implements curriculum for faith formation.
- Ensures all logistics for faith formation are secured and managed, for example classroom space, obtaining formation materials, etc.
- Attends diocesan meetings pertaining to faith formation.
- Recruits, supports, trains, and evaluates catechists.
- Recruits, coordinates, and maintains additional volunteers for faith formation events and programs.
- Implements scholarship programs.
- Manages Budget for Faith Formation including payments for Faith Formation courses.
- Provides parent meetings and workshops.
- Teaches Children Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) during 9:00am Family Mass and recruits for volunteers for such.
- Initiates outreach with families for service projects.
- Responsible for coordinating event set up for religious education and faith formation.
- Records Faith Formation volunteer’s compliance with Virtus training.
- Provides information in the bulletin regarding faith formation
- Inputs and maintains Parishsoft each year for children enrolled in faith formation classes, communion, confirmation, family programs, and Children’s Liturgy of the Word.
- Apply for religious grants that benefit the religious education of children and implement approved grants.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Theology or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Five years prior experience teaching and performing consistent responsibilities.
- Active participant in the life of the Catholic Church and ability to participate in the full sacramental life of the church.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills, is collaborative, and exhibits a willingness to learn and share.
- Ability to manage and implement projects.
- Demonstrates a high degree of integrity, ethical responsibility, and maintains confidentiality.
- Recognizes, promotes and demonstrates by individual actions the need for ongoing spiritual renewal.
- Microsoft Office/Suite proficient with 5 years’ experience.
- Demonstrates problem solving and time management skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to exceed expectations.
