The history of Holy Spirit Retirement Home dates to September 1968 when ground was broken on the first part of the nursing home facility located at West 25th Street in Sioux City. Holy Spirit Retirement Home is Siouxland’s only faith-based, locally owned entity. We offer a range of services, including skilled nursing care, independent living, assisted living, and long-term care. Our rich tradition for providing excellent patient care starts with our strong continuum of care approach, meaning our residents receive the right level of care for their individual health goals and situation. Job Title: PT activities assistant
Hours: 15-20 hrs per week.
Schedule is approximate:
Tuesday: 2pm-7:30pm
Thursday: 2pm-7:30pm
Friday: 1pm-4:30pm
Saturday: 1:pm-7:30pm
Pay: $15-$17.00
Description:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each function satisfactorily. They will be required to work a varied work schedule that will include some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
The Activities Director provides group and individual activities for the residents. They use leisure and recreational activities to support health, well-being, help with recovery, mental illness, and social reintegration. They must prioritize keeping residents mentally, physically, and creatively engaged within a comprehensive activity program. This position will involve personal contact with a varying resident population. They are required to interact appropriately and effectively in one-to-one activities according to the resident's strengths and limitations.
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to maintain an acceptable driving record to be an approved driver.
- Must be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office Applications, AND/OR other software.
- We require all our employees to have a Mandatory Reporter Certificate for adult abuse. This is free to obtain at the https://dhs.iowa.gov/ website. This is a prerequisite and employees cannot start work until this is completed.
All Holy Spirit Retirement Home employees are required to pass a physical, drug test, TB test, and thorough background check before employment may begin.
