Position Purpose
Assists and fulfills direct care and rehabilitative services for residents of St Edmond’s Home.This is a basic operations role found in every residential care facility in the CSS system. It is amulti-incumbent position requiring limited skills and experience. Incumbents usually report to a Direct Care Supervisor but may receive work direction from the Residential Director.
1.DIRECT CARE OF CHILD/CHILDREN ASSIGNED
- Properly bath, change, dress and feed child/children assigned in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Properly interact with child/children; always using Active Treatment in accordance with program goals and guidelines.
- Actively participate with child/children’s activities, including but not limited to group activities, trips and swimming.
- Ensure all items used on/for child/children are properly cleaned/sanitized in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
- Demonstrate proper care of children assigned.
- Demonstrate proper interactions and participation with children.
- Demonstrate proper cleaning and sanitizing of items used by/for children.
2.PROPER DOCUMENTATION
- Attend Report from Nursing at start of shift and note any items pertaining to child/children assigned.
- Properly document in Care Tracker, all required entries for each child in your care.
- Properly complete any/all logs, forms, or other types of documentation as required in accordance with proper policy/procedure.
- Demonstrate proper attention to Report.
- Demonstrate proper documentation in Care Tracker and other places.
3.TEAMWORK
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed prior to end of shift.
- Assist any/all co-workers with tasks/assignments as needed or as available.
- Ensure all areas occupied are clean and neat, wiping down all surfaces, clearing all dirty items to the proper places, and putting things in their proper place in accordance with policy/procedure.
- Demonstrate ability to complete tasks as assigned.
- Demonstrate willingness to assist coworkers.

Essential Qualifications & Competencies
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate, or in receipt of a GED. Must be able to read, write and understand work instructions in English.
- No experience required, but some relevant work experience is preferred. On the job training is provided.
- Ability to lift and carry in excess of 50 lbs on a regular basis, and push, pull and move up to 200lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk and move without limitations is required.
