SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR
Location: Archdiocese of Los Angeles
Status: Exempt, Full Time
Salary Range: $99,919 - $116,572
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. Candidates are paid at the minimum of the salary range or no higher than the first quartile of the salary range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, and other department needs.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, development and execution of assigned engagements/projects included in internal audit plan, and for assigned requests.
Essential Functions
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Complete work timely and meet supervisor assigned deadlines for work assignments.
- Assist the Director of Internal Audit to help lead projects by leading projects and taking initiative to complete work assignments.
- Communicate with the Director of Internal Audit timely for completed assignment to review and inquire additional work assignments to support the Director of Internal Audit and Internal Audit Department.
- Ability to independently audit throughout the engagement lifecycle (planning, fieldwork/execution, reporting, and follow-up).
- Timely provide weekly communication updates on projects, assignments, and work to the Director of Internal audit.
- Strong project management skills and report hours worked on projects weekly to the Director of Internal Audit.
- Prepares audit programs, internal control internal control questionnaires, audit work-papers to document interviews, audit information (i.e., interviews, walkthroughs, testing, observations (findings), recommendations).
- Obtain approval for audit programs, audit work, and senior internal auditor proposed changes to audit programs and audit work from the Director of Internal Audit.
- Maintain internal control documentation (narratives, flowcharts, risk controls matrices, etc.) with confidentiality and attorney-client privilege confidentiality.
- Prepares written draft internal audit reports.
- Travel to various site locations in the five Pastoral Regions
- Assists investigations when irregularities are either reported or suspected, or when other circumstances arise. Any investigation work planned or performed needs approval from the Director Internal Audit and senior internal auditors maintain documentation under confidentiality and attorney-client privilege.
- Must be able to maintain confidential information, exercise good judgment and work independently, as well as in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to meeting all deadlines.
- Perform a self-quality review of written work product (audit documentation, workpapers, and reports, memorandums) Other duties as assigned.
- Provide training on internal controls and best practices for accounting/finance to site locations (i.e., parishes and schools).
- Perform timely follow-up on recommendations for remediation and report progress timely to the Director of Internal Audit.
- Senior Internal Auditors at times will assist consultants to perform internal audit work under directives from the Director of Internal Audit.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or Management
- Three or more years of auditing professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office Products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Zoom/ Teams (particularly as it relates to meeting/conferencing capabilities)
Skill in:
- Interpersonal and customer service skills to ensure positive interactions.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with many different people.
Ability to:
- The ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic Church.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
- Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
