Job Description
The Parish Missionary assists the pastor in forming parishioners into missionary disciples. The missionary actively engages in the life of the parish by orchestrating and participating in parish outreach and evangelization, overseeing ministry to young adults, planning and executing social and spiritual events, coordinating the children's religious education program, helping parishioners grow in their faith through spiritual accompaniment, and accomplishing other tasks
for the smooth functioning of the parish. The missionary also manages social media and supports digital communication for the parish. The missionary works closely with the administrative assistant and parish volunteers. Spanish proficiency is not required, but helpful for the religious education program.
Job Details
I. Oversees Immaculate Conception Young Adults (ICYA)
Directs ICYA core team, including running monthly meetings and enlisting their support to plan, promote, and execute spiritual, service, and social activities.
Coordinates and/or organizes young adult events in collaboration with the core team.
Creates and distributes a newsletter twice per month via Flocknote.
Oversees and tracks ICYA budget.
II. Provides opportunities for spiritual formation
Leads Bible studies/small groups (one at a time).
Supports existing Bible studies/Discipleship Quads.
Organizes annual Advent morning of recollection and Lenten weekend retreat.
Provides individual mentorship/spiritual accompaniment to several parishioners to help them deepen their prayer lives and become intentional disciples.
III. Parishioner Engagement & Outreach
Fosters a welcoming parish environment.
Tracks parishioner registrations and meets with new parishioners to welcome and connect them to parish groups, service opportunities, etc.
Recruits and trains volunteers to fill one-time and long-term parish needs, such as event set up/clean up, servers for annual senior appreciation brunch, coffee and donuts after
Mass, etc.
Attends and often manages parish events and programming.
IV. Directs Sunday School Religious Education Program (~25 children)
Oversees program on Sunday mornings (Sept to May).
Recruits and supports catechists.
Communicates with parents via weekly email and in person on Sunday.
Prepares annual calendar and keeps Archdiocesan standards for child protection training current for all catechists.
Orders books and supplies.
Monitors attendance and ensures that sacramental standards are met.
V. Social Media and Digital Communication
Generates regular content for Instagram and Facebook to promote events, engage parishioners, and increase visibility.
Develops promotional materials and signup forms for parish events.
Uses Flocknote to send parish-wide communication, manage event sign-ups, etc.
Manages the parish-wide young adult Groupme and answers questions via social media platforms.

Position Type
Full time (40hrs/week), exempt position with benefits.
Flexible schedule. Must work Sunday mornings and a couple evenings per week.
The parish missionary is ideally a deeply spiritual person who is zealous for the Catholic faith, thrives off of frequent engagement with other people, and takes advantage of opportunities for daily Mass and frequent Eucharistic adoration which are included in the job.
Salary starts at $55,000 but can be higher based on experience.
