General Introduction
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198)
Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
Works with the Director of CYO Camps to ensure that the program is functioning and in line with the mission of the program and the Archdiocese of Seattle. This position will work directly with our off seasonal rental program that operates September through May. During the summer this position will oversee major program areas of the camps.
Essential Position Duties
- Implements and coordinates the Day Camp summer camp program in accordance with American Camping Association standards and best practices.
- Under the direction of the Director of CYO Camps, participates with other staff members in implementing the mission of the department. This may include planning, developing and evaluating the department’s programs and services.
- Works with the Director to hire, manage and staff summer programs at their peak. This position acts as the director when the director is out of service area or unable to be reached.
- Ensures program quality through adequate staff training and supervision, performance evaluations of staff, and user evaluations. Utilizes written evaluation systems or technology-based evaluation systems as appropriate for collecting evaluation data.
- In collaboration with the Director of CYO Camps, keeps accurate records of expenditures and ensures responsible use of appropriated funds for staff and program supplies.
- This position will support the programs needs of multiple facilities and camps as needed.
- Coordinates the transportation of campers to and from bus sites located in the east side and Seattle area.
- Will work with the team to craft and deliver a marketing plan that includes email, social media and annual events.

- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in
support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
- Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Church.
- Education:
- BA or BS degree in applicable field or significant qualifying experience.
- Experience:
- Demonstrated experience with marketing, customer service, or sales.
- Experience in conducting presentations and training programs
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience and training in challenge course facilitation on a variety of elements (i.e.,
low ropes, ground initiatives, rock climbing/climbing wall, high ropes elements), or
significant qualifying experience in a teambuilding capacity.
- The ability to obtain training and/or ACCT certification in onsite challenge course
elements and site specific facilitation.
- Demonstrate understanding of challenge course safety equipment and a comfort in
using them.
- Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Office programs, and web-based technologies such
as blogs, websites, and Facebook.
- Other Elements:
- Commitment to the mission and values of CYO and the Archdiocese of Seattle.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Comfortable with public
speaking.
- Comfortable working at heights
- Must have current CPR/First Aid certification, and Food Handler’s permit, or
willingness and ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and live on site in rustic facilities while
programs are in session.
- Must own transportation and possess a valid Washington state drivers license.
