General Introduction
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198)
Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
General Summary Of Essential Purpose
Position Overview: Provides groundskeeping and maintenance for all facilities and equipment at properties within the Archdiocese of Seattle on a temporary basis. This role is responsible for manual labor outlined by the supervisor and hired contractor(s).
This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 9 weeks, but this duration can be subject to change.
Essential Position Duties
- Assist the facilities team at Camp Hamilton. Duties include working with the contractor to assist in construction of the fireplace circle, general landscaping, maintenance, and cleanup.
- In consultation with Supervisor and hired contractor(s), ensures that facilities and equipment meet federal, state, ACA, and local regulations.
- Engages in the proper safety practices and follows proper safety protocols for the Archdiocese when working at heights, on ladders, with chemicals or power tools, or as other situations warrant.
- Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
- Experience:
- 1+ year experience preferred, but not required in maintenance and upkeep of buildings, facilities, and grounds.
- Ability to use basic construction tools related to framing a wooden structure.
- Other Elements:
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Archdiocese of Seattle.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Physical ability to perform job tasks including but not limited to lifting, bending, reaching, stooping, etc.
- Comfortable working at heights and with ladders, utilizing the proper safety harnesses and
equipment.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Own a reliable transportation and possessing a valid Washington State driver’s license.
- Ability to work Monday—Thursday 8AM-4:30PM
- A willingness to travel and work at Camp Hamilton daily
