Position Summary
Walsh University is seeking a Chair of Graduate Nursing/Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor to join the successful and highly respected Byers School of Nursing. The successful candidate for this position will have administrative experience in nursing education and have current practical experience in the field. In addition, the candidate should possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Position may be non-tenure track or tenure-track depending on candidate’s qualifications. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) or currently enrolled in a doctoral program.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The Chair of Graduate Nursing provides administrative leadership, academic oversight, faculty management and program development for the Graduate Nursing Department. The Chair of Graduate Nursing reports directly to the Dean. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Leadership and Policy Development: Provides strategic leadership for the graduate nursing department, participating in both administrative and academic decision making. Serves as the primary contact for the program, communicating with faculty, staff, external stakeholders and other members of the University leadership team. Ensures program quality and accreditation compliance. Interprets and implements University and program policies. Develops program specific policies in consultation with faculty.
Curriculum development and accreditation: Oversees graduate curriculum content and development to ensure relevance and adherence to accreditation standards
Program Evaluation: Oversees program evaluation and the institutional review and assessment plan for graduate nursing
Faculty Management: Leads the recruitment, development, and retention of graduate nursing faculty. Mentors new faculty to support faculty development. Delegates appropriate responsibilities to faculty to ensure the compliance of programs with University and accreditation standards and expectations. Oversees faculty performance and evaluation.
Scheduling: Schedules classes and other related program functions/activities.
Student Affairs: Oversees student affairs within the graduate nursing programs including advising, student support services and student disciplinary actions. Collaborates with the admission/enrollment team to oversee graduate student admission and enrollment.
Resource Allocation: Allocates appropriate resources to effectively support the graduate nursing programs. Works with the Dean to manage the budget to ensure financial responsibility and sustainability.
Instruction: May be involved in teaching graduate-level nursing courses, depending on specific program and faculty needs

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) or currently enrolled in a doctoral program.
Work Experience: Administrative experience in nursing education. Teaching experience in graduate nursing. Online teaching experience is preferred but candidates with a strong background in the content area will be considered.
