Description
St. Peter Catholic School, in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, MO, is seeking an Elementary Music Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will provide the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The position is part-time, based on a 15-hour workweek, and reports to the principal.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of best teaching practices
- Prepare and implement effective lessons based on learning goals and curricula
- Use a variety of methods to assess and monitor student's progress in relation to curriculum objectives
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
- Establish and maintain a positive, functional, and pleasant learning environment that supports student growth and self-discipline
- Establish a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self-direction and positive self-image; sets high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Promote positive relationships and effective communication with all staff, parents, and students
- Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, sound judgment, dress, enforcing diocesan and school policies and general behavior
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration
Requirements
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
- Knowledge of subjects taught, instructional methods/strategies, and curriculum differentiation
- Skill in critical thinking and planning
- The ability to use appropriate technology including computer, smart board, projector, handheld devices, etc.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Education from an accredited university, Music Education is preferred
- Valid teaching certificate
