Description
St. Mary Catholic Church in Independence is seeking to hire a full time Formation and Family Resource Coordinator. The role of this position is to support the Pastor in carrying out the variety of catechetical and formation activities of the parish. This includes assisting with events and programs taking place in the parish, as well as providing support to the faithful for their own efforts in enrichment and faith formation at home and with their families. This position would not include responsibility for determining curriculum and directing of formation programs, but will assist the pastor in these decisions.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of youth Catechesis and Sacramental preparation;
- Supervise Catechists and other volunteers which includes ensuring they have access to any necessary training;
- Ensure proper documentation and completion of all requirements for Sacramental preparation of youth and adults (OCIA);
- Assist with the planning and promotion of adult catechetical and formation events;
- Work with the pastor in developing formation activities;
- Assist in developing resources and programs for families;
- Assist with the development and maintaining of a parish library that includes both digital and physical resources
- Assist the pastor with OCIA administration;
Skills and Proficiencies
- Strong knowledge of the teachings and sacramental theologies of the Church
- Experience and knowledge in youth catechesis and teaching
- Ability to identify useful resources for individual and family formation activities
- Proficient use with computers
- Some marketing and promotional skills are desirable
- Familiarity or proficiency in Spanish would be very beneficial
- Well organized and able to plan and maintain calendar
- Event planning
- Knowledge of Sacramental requirements
