Description
Saint Charles Borromeo Academy is seeking a full time ELA Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. Partnering with parents in their role as primary educators, Saint Charles Borromeo Academy extends the mission of the Church in forming true disciples of Jesus Christ. Through a Catholic Classical Liberal Arts education centered on Christ, we provide an integrated approach fostering a love for truth, beauty, and goodness. This position will report to the Principal.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct small group reading sessions to provide targeted support using evidence-based instructional strategies to improve reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
- Provide pull-out and pull-in reading instruction to students needing additional support.
- Participate in the K-2 reading program to promote continuity and consistency in implementing the curriculum.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the classroom teachers and the principal.
- Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, judgement, dress, enforcing diocesan and school policies.
- Assess and monitor student progress in meeting their goals and reading needs.
- Promote positive relationships and effective communication with all staff, parents, and students.
- Provide instruction in the areas of reading and writing for identified groups and individual students.
- Collaborate closely with teachers to identify students with greatest need.
- Collaborate and coach teachers on the use of assessment data to plan instruction; analyze school literacy data and plan for future literacy needs.
- Use iReady data to select students for interventions and aid in lesson planning.
- Be an active member of a faith community and a model of teachings of Jesus.
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
Requirements
- Valid Missouri Teaching certification in elementary education.
- Special Reading K-12 certification or prior ELA specialist experience or Special Education experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or relevant experience required
