Position Summary
The Stewardship & Development Officer will play a vital role in building and maintaining relationships with donors and prospects to secure gifts that support the mission of the Archdiocese of Omaha through the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal and Archbishop’s Dinner for Education. This position focuses on donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship to grow and sustain philanthropic support. Working as a member of the Stewardship & Development Office, this role focuses on donor relations, relationship management and strategic planning to achieve fundraising goals.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Donor Relationship Management
- Help donors achieve their philanthropic goals through personalized engagement and meaningful relationships with our organization.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, maintaining consistent and personalized communication to secure higher-level annual gifts.
- Work in tandem with the Development Coordinator to solicit leadership gifts and steward donors for the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal and Archbishop’s Dinner for Education.
Solicitation and Fundraising Strategy
- Work with the Development Coordinator to craft and implement a sponsorship solicitation plan for the Archbishop’s Dinner for Education.
- Create and implement "moves management" plans to guide donors through the giving process.
- Conduct face-to-face solicitations.
- Align efforts with overall Stewardship & Development Office goals to ensure cohesive fundraising strategies and achieve organizational goals.
Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Work with team on ongoing stewardship activities to enhance relationships between donors and the archdiocese.
- Acknowledge major donors through personalized recognition, both publicly and privately.
- Track and report progress using specific metrics to evaluate the success of donor engagement efforts.
Event and Communication Support
- Work with Stewardship & Development staff to plan and execute special events.
Administrative and Systems Management
- Use donor databases and wealth screening tools to track and cultivate donors and prospects effectively.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of donor interactions and maintain organized records.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proven success in fundraising or advancement, with demonstrated leadership and achievement in donor relations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to build and maintain meaningful relationships.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to influence, lead and motivate others, including those not under direct authority.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to strategically plan and execute goals aligned with the organization’s mission.
- Competency in implementing marketing and communications strategies.
- Clear commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church and the ability to represent the Archdiocese of Omaha in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in donor management systems, including Blackbaud’s Raiser's Edge and NXT, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive, supportive workplace culture.
Education And Experience
- Background in and/or knowledge of the Catholic Church with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or Management, Public Relations, Philanthropy, Fundraising Studies, Communications, Marketing or equivalent required.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in development or advancement office or other related experience required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Routine office environment; ADA-accessible building.
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 10%; Travel throughout the Archdiocese to meet with current and prospective donors
