Position Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst for the Diocese of Charleston is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Diocese and its related entities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and providing meaningful analysis. The analyst will prepare financial statements, manage general ledger activities, assist with audits, and analyze revenue sources. This role is the key point of contact for the Diocesan Deposit and Loan program, and works closely with the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure proper financial stewardship of our parishes, schools, and ministries in alignment with diocesan policies and Catholic principles.

Essential Job Functions:
- Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements for the Chancery and its related entities, including the statement of activities, statement of financial position, and the statement of cash flows
- Prepare variance analysis and provide meaningful insights to management
- Assist with annual audit documentation requests
- Accounts Receivable
- Ensure proper handling of contributions, donations, and other receipts, including timely recording
- Review fund accounting to ensure usage of funds complies with restrictions and provide insights to management regarding opportunities available
- Conduct periodic debtor reviews and calculate and adjust credit loss allowances, after an assessment of economic conditions at parishes, schools, and ministries
- Diocesan Deposit and Loan Administration
- Prepare deposit and loan statements for all participants on a monthly basis
- Calculate and post interest income and expense from the D&L program
- Conduct cash flow analysis to determine creditor risk and loan viability
- Prepare loan documentation, amortization schedules, and accompanying supporting documentation
- Conduct a quarterly credit loss evaluation and determine appropriate credit loss allowances after an assessment of economic conditions at participating locations
- Assist in ensuring all accounts are properly reconciled and issues are addressed timely.

Requirements:
· Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred, but not required.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, financial analysis, planning, budgeting or related roles. Previous public accounting experience preferred.
· Command of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Strong financial analysis skills, with a focus on identifying trends and projections.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong organizational and stress management skills.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
· Strong adopter of new technology required.
· Ability to self-start and be a critical thinker is desirable.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: The candidate should have knowledge of how to use copier, fax machine, phone, and postage machine. A driver’s license is required to occasionally run errands, pick up supplies for events, etc. This position involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands and feet, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching above shoulders, and tasting/smelling at least 1/3 of the time. The candidate should also be able to lift up to 25 lbs in order to move files, purchase supplies, carry materials to events, etc.
